Israel (1948 – 2008) – 60 Years of Colonial Occupation of Palestine and Genocide: 60 years ago, on the 14th May 1948, the new state of Israel was declared. It was formed barely five years after the end of the 2nd World War and recognised by the United Nations under the leadership and control of the Western Allied powers of the USA, Britain and France. The formation of Israel came at the expense of huge human suffering and the death of millions of Palestinian people who had been living on the land for thousands of years.
